A CUSTOM WEBSITE FOR OREGON STUDENTS
What's out there to encourage students to explore the sciences? To learn and experience how much fun math, science, and technology can be? Local high-tech company Intel Corporation realized that Oregon students wanted to know what kinds of camps, clubs, activities were out there for them, but until now, there was no one source, no one reference, no one place where they could go. Enter Techno Science Supersite.
On the site there are resources across the board for elementary, middle, and high school students, all easy to find. Techno Science Supersite is continually updated so that it offers the most current information on camps, classes, clubs, fairs, scholarships and conferences for Oregon students in the fields of math, science and technology. Since 2001, Intel has sponsored development of the site in partnership with the Business Education Compact (BEC), available through the BEC LINKS website - www.BusinessEducationLinks.org
Meet Chris Winikka, Techno Science Supersite Creator
Current website developer Chris Winikka teaches web design and digital technology at Century High School in the Hillsboro School District. Here is what he says about teaching: "It is awesome to get paid to learn! In order to keep up with students, I have to be continually learning - I learn as much from them as they learn from me. There is never a dull moment!" Chris does web design on the side and you can check out his cycling blog: Fellowship of the Chainring, and his current portfolio project at www.hundredvisions.com.
