The Business Education Compact (BEC) Working to Learn Program offers a year-round internship placement service with local businesses for high school and college students. High school student interns increase their knowledge and skills and meet Oregon's new requirements for a high school diploma. College student interns receive advanced training for their fields of study. Both high school and college interns provide effective work assistance to the participating businesses.

A student internship is a planned, paid, supervised work experience related to a student's educational program and current career interests.
Employers hire students as qualified workers and are able to meet workforce needs while developing their future workforce. Student interns perform productive work while improving their knowledge and skills and connecting with future career options.
The BEC has successfully placed over 1500 students in internships since the program began in June 1995.
