Thank you to the engineers/scientists who took the time to prepare the lessons and visit schools. They are all very open and giving and "brave" to take on this experience....and we thank them all.
The students like seeing science in a REAL job!
We love giving our class glimpses of the real world. The engineers have always made a clear connection between what we're studying and how it will be used in the future. That's great motivation!
Excellent opportunity to plant the seeds for students to focus on math and sciences. The program does definitely open some students’ eyes either to consider the direction and/or to appreciate what all engineers do. Thanks again!
It validated the work we have been doing in the classroom.
The kids were very interested.... (many of them) told me they are now thinking of engineering as a career. They didn't realize there were so many different kinds!
It was great to have someone in the "real" world talking about how they use science skills in their job. It really brings home to kids that school matters.
It gave the students a picture of some real world applications for math. Answers the age-old question, "when are we going to use this?”
It is always interesting and exciting to have speakers, especially those who are not teachers, to work with a class. They offer an interesting perspective and bring in a certain level of expertise that is sometimes unattainable by the classroom teacher.
It was good for the students to hear about preparation for engineering, about technology, and about what they should be working on now in high school to be prepared.
Career education for the students as well as a science demonstration that fit well with our curriculum needs.
