The Career Experience Database (CED) is a searchable database of businesses in the Oregon tri-county region that are willing to provide Career Related Learning Experiences (CRLEs) for high school students. These experiences include hands-on workplace learning such as Job Shadows and Mock Interviews that support Oregon education standards for quality education.

The BEC manages the CED of businesses and provides user access, training and support. Participating high schools pay an annual fee to access the database. Database users are generally School-to-Work Coordinators at the high school. As student opportunities are needed, they contact businesses in the database to find out if they are available to provide them. They then prepare each student for the activity to make it a meaningful learning experience.

Businesses are recruited and added to the CED by recruiting agencies or by the schools themselves. In Washington County, several schools fund business recruiting and student placement services through the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce leveraging the business contacts and expertise of their local Chamber. Regional coordination is also a service provided by the Hillsboro Chamber.
