Internship Wages
Educator interns are typically provided an hourly wage for completing a work project for the business. Generally the hourly wage ranges between $16-$20. The participating employer determines the hourly rate. Hourly wage factors include:
- intern qualifications
- skills required for the project
- length of internship
- project importance and urgency
- ability of employer to pay
Length of Internship and Work Schedule
The length of the internship is based upon the business's estimation of time needed to complete the project. If the project is completed in less time than allotted, the internship may be shortened. If more time is needed, the business may request the educator to continue longer if possible.
The weekly schedule is negotiated between the business mentor/supervisor and the intern. An internship 'week' may range from 30-40 hours at the discretion of the mentor/supervisor.
