Wet and Wetter Water
Materials:
Two dixie cups
Laundry Detergent
Small cotton balls (about the size of a small pea), or 1/2" lengths of yarn or string.
Procedure:
Fill both Dixie Cups with water. Label them "A" and "B"
Into cup "A" mix a little detergent. Do not stir up suds.
Drop a cotton ball or string into cup "A" and cup "B" at the same time.
Discussion:
What happened to the cotton balls?
Was there any difference in the "wetting" time between "A" and "B"?
Why do we add detergents in the family wash?
Can water be made "wetter" than "wet"?
